1.Keshav ka Poha
Location: Deo Nagar Main Road
Been there for: 40 years
Timing: 6:15 am to 7:45 am
USP: Keshav Mankar, the owner of the stall, says that he adds very little water while preparing his delicacy and this adds to the taste. The poha here has got a homely taste and is high on quality. The white chana curry is less spicy.
Aside: In a short span of one and half hours, Keshav sells 200 plates of poha every day, and he claims that 50-60 customers return empty-handed when his stock is over.

2.Ramji – Shyamji Pohewala
Location: Sita Nagar, near Chhatrapati Bus Stop
Been there for: 20 years
Timing: 5 am to 2 pm
USP: Delicious taste is the biggest USP of this joint. khada masala is used to season the black chana curry, with chunks of tomato adding to the taste.
Aside: The owner, Laxminarayan Pande, is a graduate from GS College and wakes up at 2:30 am for the preparations along with his four sons. Ramji – Shyamji are his twin sons, who are often confused for each other and they are popular among customers.

3.Saoji Pohewala
Location: Mate Square
Been there for: 6 years
Timing: 7:30 am to 6 pm
USP: The owner, Rajkumar Mangru Saroj, is basically from UP, but has been in Nagpur with his family for 15 years. So, the curry served with poha has a mixed taste of UP and Nagpur’s Saoji cuisine.
Aside: In a short span of 6 years, this joint has become very popular. At other places, students throng in abundance, but here, families also come in large numbers.

4.Aunty ka Poha
Location: Ravi Nagar Square, Near Agrasen Hostel
Been there for: 16 years
Timing: 3 am to 12 pm
USP: The masala for the spicy curry is prepared by the owner Sunita Thakre called as ‘Aunty’ by the customers. And the curry is a treat for those who love extra spice.
Aside: This joint is very popular among students.

5.Shankar Nagar ka Poha

Location: Kasturchand Park
Been there for: 41 yearsTiming: 8 am to 6 pm
USP: The joint is very close to railway station, hence it gets lots of customers. The quality of poha is superb and taste is delicious.
Aside: Though there are many pohawalas at Kasturchand Park, Rupam Sakhare’s kiosk is the most famous. He claims to sell 1000 plates of poha a day and goes on holidays abroad every year. His most recent trip was to Dubai along with his family.

7.Chandu ka Poha
Location: Near Midas Heights, Central Bazar Road
Been there for: 20 years
Timing: 9:30 pm to 1:30 am
USP: This is the only pohawala in the city, who also serves ‘anda poha’ along with the regular one, and it surely is a hit. Rupesh Bhede, one of the brothers, who run this outlet, says that anda poha was a result of an experiment his brother Chandu did just to try out something new.
Aside: Because of its late time slot, the joint is extremely popular. Even though the quality is mediocre sometimes, the customer base remains steadfast.
